With the Covid-19 vaccine becoming more available, we are seeing signs of life back in our businesses. People have been pent up and are ready to hug, celebrate, travel and SPEND! As we keep heading in the right direction and more businesses are able to return to “normal”, it will be anything but.
We all had to adapt, some by moving to an online model, some had to close temporarily and hang on for dear life, others became so busy they could barely keep up. And now they all must adapt once again, this time to be stronger and better prepared.
Now is the time to plan ahead; revisit procedures, marketing plans, staffing, inventory. Are your old ways going to work in this new future? Have you been so afraid of losing everything that you haven’t even begun to think how you will ride this new tide?
Here are some ways to prepare your business:
Look at the most time consuming tasks for your business. Are there ways to make these more efficient?
Examine what supplies cost your company the most. Have you looked for alternative items or vendors?
Learn more about the people that support your business. Do you have new customers? Do you know who they are and how to reach them?
Forecast: inventory, staff levels, pricing.
Explore other revenue channels, using your same product or service.
Get to know your competition and others in your industry. What have they done that works (or doesn’t)?
Share your goals! Make sure your staff knows the goal and let them help you get there.
